Madass 160...

Postby bmbass » 15 Sep 2009 13:05

Hey fellas. Just registered to my new addiction. I am in the process of selling my Ruckus and finding a used but loved Madass 50 to swap into a 160.( I love the ruck, but it is absolutely rediculous getting one roadworthy to run 60+ mph, both logistically and $ wise.) The MAs though, are extremely hard to find. Only one I have nearby in NC is a 97 Tomberlin w/ 2k miles asking 1300. So Im trying to work the price down. Anyways, sorry for the long-winded intro.

Has anyone documented any type of performance from a 160 swap. I know there are a lot of fresh bolton, plugin swaps out there. I find it hard to imagine MA owners and modders are this few and far between.... Any insights greatly appreciated. (esp on where to find a MA 50)

Welcome to the group bmbass.

I know the guys at Moto-Scoot were working on getting a bike set up with a 160 and making sure to get all the info/data they could to do a comparison of a before and after. If you hit them up with an email (info@moto-scoot.net) or what not they'd be able to give you an update on where they're at with it.

I guess I don't realize how lucky I am to have a local MA dealer and not having to search high and wide for a MadAss. I really hope you can find a deal and get your hands on one.

Yeah, its absolutely rediculous how freaking rare they are. I just cant justify 1300 bones for one when Im just going to be using the chassis... If I sold my ruckus, sadly, I would probably do it. Because who knows when I might come across another one. Until then the search continues, just got off the phone with the guy and he isn't budging on price.

ive been looking at a few performance options,

i dont know whether to go, a big bore kit and retain the stock cases, with the charger coils for lights and electric starter
or go for a whole new engine

then there is debate on type of engine, some of the total engine replacements were prone to failures but i believe these have been fixed.

then there is a lot of debate on which chinese engines which work and which dont, and then the japenese engines ( daytona) are developing a following.

There is lot of different quotes of hp from different suppliers and im interested in longetivity as i want to do lots of road miles and legal speeds

Moto Scoot have a few tasty options, OO Racing in England as well,

then a good carb, a free flowing exhaust and a gearing upgrade gives a good turn of speed, and you keep the advantages of the stock motor

here in chile there is a guy who put the yx 160 engine on his madass
here you have some pics: http://www.pitbikeforo.com/fotos-videos-f21/sachs-madass-160cc-t1385.htm

the yx 160 engine is the best choice for you because it have a lot of aftermarket parts to fit in, you can buy it on ebay or here: http://www.pccmotor.com/yx-160cc-cooled-engine-motor-crf50-xr-50-ogm-li1605050.html

Welcome to the group Raul - thanks for the links to those pics.

I'm wondering why he left the top end of the stock snorkel in place.
