Is this a floating valve problem?

Postby bartbrouwer » 05 Oct 2015 02:30

I am new on this forum and also with the madass.

I have a 2005 madass 50. The problem is that when the engine is warm, it lacks power at higher RPM's. This is only in 3th and 4th gear. It feels like a rev limiter kicks in. But it's not installed anymore and it keeps accelarating, but very very slow. I allready changed the ignition coil because it was shutting down when the engine became warmer. I removed the head to repaced the headgasket because it was leaking oil. Then I placed the engine back on time. I don't think it's either ignition or timing. Cleaned the carb and airfilter out. I am running on 98 petrol instead of 95 octane.

I red about it and now I think the problem is floating valve's. But I dont know how that feels and how to check for that. Can annyone help me on this?

Thanks!

You should adjust the needle clip position at the carb piston.
Clip at hight position rich mixture.
clip at lower poor mixture
mixture = (gas + air)

Thanks,

I tought about doing that. The problem exists only with throttle full open. I checked the spark plug and it is white brown. So the main jet is also correct. I tried a different CDI and this had no effect. I noticed it is in second gear aswell.

I also noticed a rattling sound coming from somewhere around the inlet on the airfilter. ( to make things more complicated)

Thanks!
