Clutch/Gearbox issues?

Postby toddbumpa » 08 Mar 2010 02:15

Anybody else have issues with shifting? Sometimes when I try to shift from 1st or find neutral, the gears aren't changing at all. I have to work the shift lever for a minute to get it to change. I've adjusted the Clutch cable at the handlebars and made shifting a little better, but it can still be pretty clunky. Any tips?

I'll try to explain it in english
In genera lit is more difficult to find the neutral from first gear than second on madass but you could remove your clutch cover and check ii you cluth basquet is well tighten secondary check if the star of locking system is still tighten and check the locking lever if all is ok check if the little sprin is still in place.

Also when you shift try "positive" shifting, when clicking your foot up into second gear, hold it up until you let out the clutch just to make sure you lock it into gear. I had a problem like this when riding my old Hyosung, i was just kicking the gears up too fast and not moving my leg enough.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've found that "pre-loading" the shifter and not rolling all the way off the throttle helps a lot. However, when stopped, the gears refuse to change. I have to ease off the clutch to get it to engage. Also, I'm beginning to get false neutrals........ :x

IM almost certain that "pre-loading" your throttle is not a good idea. you should guide your throttle closed and pull the clutch in all the way untill you know you are in neutral and then shift up, let your clutch go easy.. yah.. gassing it and putting it into gear is bad for gears. bad news bears for gears. some one correct me if im talking out of my butt.
