RACK SET For madass

just received the rack set from madasscanada.ca. priced at 150+shipping to texas,,total 175. looks great. in pix below i have the front rack installed. CAUTION-for early madass/tricksters/nitro,,etc,, some of the hardware might be the wrong size, and parts will need fitting,, BUT at least here is a kit/set that is affordable AND available. you get the front rack,,rear rack,,left and right saddlebag supports,,and hardware. ken

What's the total weight of those racks you think?

i'm guessing two pounds total. made from steel round tube, nice welds like string of pearls. someone did a good job, yuknow when you hold the individual parts they're not flimsy/wiggy. may not hold a hundred pounds but, i'd say medium duty. the rear rack goes on today but i promised to finish the speedo project too so we'll see. i feel i could pick the bike up using the front rack, never really got it off the ground, but close. didnt really want to mess it up just as i got it. ken

got it finished so everyone could see. only one side bag support is assembled to the bike on purpose,,i only want the left bag. thats another nice thing about the kit,, if you got a rightside muffler you can still have at least one sidebag. if there are any questions then shoot a pm. i have pix of every step in did in case anyone wants and points to watch out for. okay now back to the speedo. ken

Well, two qestions by me:
1. You think it has enaugh space for the OO-Racing twin exhaust?
2. Nice chain guard(home made I guess!). Can you post a close up pic of that?

I do like the look, but have you found the hard/soft bags that you are going to hang of the side?

i dont have any bags yet, but something in keeping with the style/kind of bike would be nice. maybe a 'hardshell' kinda,,i'm open to ideas. as to the 2can exhaust i'd say yes but remember the twocan is wider than onecan. look careful there is a bracket under the rear of the seat,,so to allow the 2can a new wider bracket should provide the clearance. as to the chainguard----i'm kinda ashamed of it cus its not 'smooth' or 'finished' looking like it should be,,but it does work and as time allows i will refine the mounting of the actual guard channel. thanks for the interest. by the way i checked the shipping box carton and packing and rackset was only 2pounds. so not to much weight is added to the bike. the parts are quality and not flimzy. I,am very happy with it,,i just wish a set of instructions/picture would have helped big. pix available if wanted in a pm. thanks people,,,,, ken

the seat is the stock one that came from the factory! comfortable??? well,,! ! with the generous padding on those two cheeks back there,, enough said. the carryer and side rack will be great,, i figure i'll wait and get/look around for a cheap piece of hardshell luggage of just the right size, and rig that onto the siderack. ken

I don't think there are any aftermarket options out there for the seat yet (except for a wonky seat on the Hong Kong Sachs site). A couple of the guys on the forum here have had their seats reupholstered, one guy reupholstered his own, and then in the Other Custom MadAsses post there are several examples of Thai bikes with custom seat upholstery. Mine should be back from Pirate Upholstery in a couple days. I had a gel pad added inside. *crosses fingers that it turns out nice*

they got some real wild designs and i wonder at the comfort. its nice to be cool,, but for me i need to be comfortable and in control with the right seat position. seat for me is way down the list of things to do/get. anyone who sees the bike,,first thing they say is 'what is it', , ,and of course that lets me get in and tell them that sorry mine is not for sale but they can get the current version called sachs madass. i should be in sales.

The Trickster seats were a little bit different than the madass. I've also only seen the trickster version in all black.

they look good but i dont plan on being away that long each time. and there is the point that i want only one side ,, so things are going to be lopsided in no time. i've got a exhaust system coming and that should be on the right,,bags and hot exhaust dont mix well, ken

then why not just use a waterproof 35 liter back pack ? when I take the bags off and ride around in the city, that's just what I use, plenty of room for anything and no worries of someone tampering with the bags.....

or get a pelican side case and adapt it to the madass, hard lugagge

bags have been bought and currently imagineering the mounting brackets. got the correct looking size for both the toprack and the leftside rack. both are hardcase in black. got some things to do this holiday w/end, but will get to work asap after the holiday. ken
